Uncertainty quantification in breakup reactions

چکیده
Breakup reactions are one of the favored probes to study loosely bound nuclei, particularly those in limit stability forming a halo. In order interpret such breakup experiments, continuum discretized coupled channel method is typically used. this study, first Bayesian analysis reaction model performed. We use combination statistical methods together with three-body (the method) quantify uncertainties on observables due parameters effective potential describing projectile interest. The tools we develop opens path for not only processes, but also wide array complex processes that require computationally intensive models.

Peripherality of breakup reactions
Breakup calculations of loosely bound nuclei (B and Be) are performed with two different descriptions of the projectile. The descriptions differ strongly in the interior of the wave function, but exhibit identical asymptotic properties (ANC, and phase shifts). Calculations are performed for both nuclei at intermediate (40–70 MeV/nucleon) and low (26 MeV) energies with heavy and light targets. N...
متن کاملForward and Backward Uncertainty Quantification in Optimization
This contribution gathers some of the ingredients presented during the Iranian Operational Research community gathering in Babolsar in 2019.It is a collection of several previous publications on how to set up an uncertainty quantification (UQ) cascade with ingredients of growing computational complexity for both forward and reverse uncertainty propagation.
متن کاملMechanisms for Direct Breakup Reactions
We review some simple mechanisms of breakup in nuclear reactions. We mention the spectator breakup, which is described in the post-form DWBA. The relation to other formulations is also indicated. An especially important mechanism is Coulomb dissociation. It is a distinct advantage that the perturbation due to the electric field of the nucleus is exactly known. Therefore firm conclusions can be ...
متن کاملStatistical Theory of Breakup Reactions
We propose an alternative for Coupled-Channels calculations with looselybound exotic nuclei(CDCC), based on the the Random Matrix Model of the statistical theory of nuclear reactions. The coupled channels equations are divided into two sets. The first set, described by the CDCC, and the other set treated with RMT. The resulting theory is a Statistical CDCC (CDCCs), able in principle to take int...
متن کاملUncertainty Quantification in Scientific Computing
Computing has become an indispensable component of modern science and engineering research. This may be viewed as a natural legacy of Moore’s Law. As has been repeatedly observed and documented, processing speed measured in floating point operations per second has experienced exponential growth for several decades. To a large degree, hardware efficiencies have been accompanied by innovations in...
